About Nathan DeBruin
Nathan DeBruin, the owner of Photos By Nate D LLC, was born in Racine, Wisconsin, and is now based in Kenosha. His passion for photography began early, influenced by his father’s work with Signature Films, Inc., a company founded in 1975 by his grandfather, Harold DeBruin. Signature Films specialized in producing training films and 35mm slide programs for prominent local companies such as J.I. Case, Modine, and Johnson Wax, exposing Nathan to the power of visual storytelling from a young age.
After the personal loss of his brother, Nathan’s connection to photography deepened, further solidifying his ties to the Kenosha community. What began as a hobby soon became a profound way to preserve and share the stories behind the moments he captured.
In 2021, Nathan played a key role in the high-profile Kyle Rittenhouse trial, offering his perspective as both a photographer and photojournalist. His commitment to capturing honest, impactful imagery further solidified his reputation as a trusted visual storyteller.
In 2023, Nathan founded Photos By Nate D LLC, where he is dedicated to creating evocative images that capture not just moments, but the essence of the people, places, and stories behind them.
Nathan also self-published The Kenosha Unrest, a photography book documenting the aftermath of the 2020 unrest in Kenosha. His powerful images were featured in the 2024 BBC documentary Kyle: The Gunman Who Divided America, with several of his photographs used as the backdrop for the cover and throughout the film.
In addition to his work at Photos By Nate D LLC, Nathan contributes to The Kenosha County Eye, Kenosha County’s premier source for investigative journalism, where his keen eye for detail and unwavering commitment to truth continue to shape his work as a photographic storyteller.
